Workshop 01 | Objects of the Home
This will be the first in a series of workshops I will be teaching at Sous Terre in Paris. Workshop 01 | Objects of the Home will focus on objects for the home. Alongside my sculpture practice I have consistently made all types of objects for my own home over the years. I use these objects primarily as a way of testing new techniques and materials. Often an idea that informs the making of an entire body of work develops early on in a cup, candlestick or clock. It is also a rewarding experience to make something in the studio and then use it for many years on a daily basis in the home.
This first workshop aims to share many of the techniques I use in the studio on a daily basis and give you a framework to learn these whilst beginning to develop your own. I will provide many examples from my own personal archive to help give you a starting point. The pace of the day is relaxed and the outcomes can be as little or as many as you desire. The atelier is a welcoming space and a good opportunity to discuss ideas, make some new friends and enjoy working with your hands.
This workshop is suitable for those who have zero experience working with the material to those who are familiar, however, looking to learn new methods and ways of working. There is no requirement to make anything related to the home. It is simply a starting point for us to launch from. All materials and tools for the day are included in the cost. The work made will be fired and ready for collection after the summer break. Light refreshments will also be served as we make. Places for this workshop are limited so reserve ASAP using the link below.
